Orcas

Hello,
I've just joined this website and am excited to hear about everyone's adventures. Just have a quick question...my dive instructor was fascinated with orcas and is determind to dive with them. I've never heard anything about doing this and was wondering if anyone had any information on it or if its just completely crazy.

I heard the transient ones may eat you... so from what I've heard, make sure it's a resident one.

I'm not sure its quite as clear cut as that dennis - the orca in those pictures are from a specialist fish-eating pod. I believe the consensus is that whilst it should be safe diving with orca who usually take marine mammals entails some risk.

Look up ~Orca*chick~.Her father runs a dive boat out of the San Juans.Also there was an article in scubadiving magazine about 2 months agne of the articles was talking about diving with orcas.I ll have to look for that issue.
