You guys are harsh ... but I am curious if the OP has ever practiced ditching his equipment in the described manner ... and if so, what the result was ...

But, Bungie might be better than cave line..... Just think, if a mask or fin came off, it would just "snap" back and smack you, alerting you that there was something wrong... or if you get too far from shore, it would yank you back... :wink:

Hmmm...I think it may be time for an upgrade. At first I was thinking your idea (as brilliant as it was) might be too expensive, but then it hit me: I could just hang out on the beach and recoup the money by charging other divers for a horizontal bungee jump!
