On my IPad no matter the browser I get a barrage of "congratulations google user" junk unless I turn off Java.

Turning off Java makes some features on the board unusable.

Hopefully it gets fixed

Attempts to find something on the server side have come up empty to now.

We strongly suspect that some users are suffering van malware on the client side. Here is a link that might help. If anyone has any ideas that would help our admins then please let us know.

Installing an ad blocker stops the "congratulations google user" on this site.

It has never popped up on any other site.

What I read indicates the script is in an ad on site, that is why ad blocking software works.

I use iOS.

The chances of so many users getting a local malware that comes and goes and only affects scubaboard and now where else is pretty low.

Most of the complaints I have read are about mobile devices, more specifically iOS devices.

This is my opinion but hopefully, it will help the admin team track this down.

I downloaded an app on iOS called httpwatch. This will allow you to browse a site and it will record what is happening in the backend.

Based off of the information gathered from that tool, the current popups are caused by the ads in the bottom right-hand corner of the site on mobile, you can only see it on an iPhone if you flip your phone landscape, but it still loads in portrait the responsiveness just hides it.

Once it loads long enough and gets to the point where for example on the Oculus Rift ad, the doors in the ad open and the screen changes from red to Blue it throws the Google User You Win bullshiz everytime. OR for that matter, if you click on the ad at any time for any of the ads it does go to oculus.com/rift or the other sites the ad may be for, for a second but then redirects to the Google User Win BS.

I do not think this is Scubaboard doing this on purpose, it is though in my opinion a problem with one of the adserve networks being used, specifically (as far as I can tell) on mobile.

In fact, the bigger problem seems to be with ads specifically Javascript ads that are served through u9zw.com. The ads that originate through that domain serve Javascript errors in console, redirects and just plain odd behavior all around.

The url that seems to be pissing the site off is https://u9zw.com/vavsdtf which you can't load directly through a browser but it and other randomly called url's from the same domain u9zw.com get called A LOT as they are part of the adserve network being used.

Another example that does load is something like this meant for the left hand ad column https://u9zw.com/uuimage/jstory/jst160.jpg

I can't repeat this on my desktop to use better debug tools because that particular ad never loads up. Seems like it is mobile only and the two are using different adserve networks.

httpwatch does allow me to save a log that may help the admin team troubleshoot further. Please let me know if you would like me to send it along. @Diver0001

Thank you. I have brought this to their attention.

Please PM me the log. I will attach it to the report.

Sure thing I will forward it along when I get to a computer.

Interestingly enough it is not happening at all this morning. And I just saw the Oculus Rift ad as a top bar full screen ad and as a bottom right corner ad, which I would assume (maybe wrongly) was from the same adserve network and still nothing.

I might be wrong about all of my assumptions, it but it shouldn't take long to flesh them out a bit more.

Be cause it comes and goes without a common pattern even more points to it not being a user problem but instead about a specific server(s) in the adserve network rotation.

Yesterday is the first time I've noticed this. I can't use Scubaboard from my iPhone despite clearing cache, browsing history, and rebooting phone.

I'll try the javascript thing and look into an ad blocker.

Thanks to all those that make this forum great - even to the point of diagnosing the problem and moderators attempting to resolve it.

Anything ever come of this? Scubaboard is mostly unusable for me now. No matter how many times I try to reload most threads, I get one of two "congratulations" pop up ads that hijack the site .
