I liked the video trailer. Looks like it could be a good show. Please have it on a channel that is offered by Dish Network. IJS.

However, please do not use the Paul Jr. (OCC) technique for dialog or voice over. It's all too predictable, sounds ridiculously demeaning to the audience, and detracts from the focus of the show. I'm sure you all have wonderfully interesting personalities, but don't spend half the show talking about each other, I don't care that much (don't take it personally.) I want to be vicariously involved in the planning and execution of the dive(s). (thanks for putting up with my 2psi)

Noted. :) I'll have to watch the show again to really get a "feel" for what you're talking about - it's been a long time since I've seen it. However, the truth is that I'm in FRONT of the camera, and not behind it, producing it, editing it, or even scripting it. That's up to the producers, and the final product is nearly 100% their creation - not mine. I do have some input, though, so I'll do my best to communicate your thoughts to them and prevent my own OCC-ish monologue and we'll see how it comes out.

For what it's worth, I really like this group of producers/editors. They really seem to have "it" going on and be very professional and have some great ideas. It's a good thing - the show is literally their baby. We are made or broken on their ideas and what they like and what they do with it.

Hahahaaa! No offense taken! I completely understand what you're talking about.

Are you kidding? Thank you very much for your 2psi! :)

Interesting, one other thing there was an underwater scene in which there looked as if there was a shark and a school of small fish swimming by it looked liked an aquarium setting was this just a fill piece that the producers stuck in?

"Stock footage." The problem is, visibility here MIGHT get up to about 10' in the dead of winter, and is usually less than one foot mid-summer. We don't get paid to dive in warm, clear, pretty waters. :)

I have JUST gotten back online to see the answer to my post and wanted to clarify/reiterate; I too argued a very similiar defense when SHE objected to the show;

My exact response to my good friend (and Dive Student) was:

"I am sometimes amazed that people who are completely opposed to recovering shipwreck artifacts are completely OK with leaving them underwater to disintegrate and decay completely out of sight and out of mind."

I just wanted EVERYONE to know, this was not my stance on this! I can't wait to set up my TIVO to catch EVERY Episode!|

DIVE ON and Recover Stuff!

You all may have all see this but this is a GREAT Article on the subject!

I read this article after it was discussed on SCUBA OBSESSED Podcast

I have an idea for season two...when I get my Commercial Cert and I start doing my own salvage/recovery work and stuff....we could do a "Clash of the Titans" (or more like David VS Goliath) where we would fight over rights, wreckages, jobs etc. :eyebrow: :crafty:

I am getting close to cutting the tether that keeps my wife anchored up here. It won't be long before we are living in West Ashley area outside of Charleston, SC.!

Lee (the author) and I are good friends. I had the pleasure of spending several days with him last summer at his home here in South Carolina working on a couple of projects together. I consider him an expert in his field, an amazing author, an incredible collector and the best researcher and historian I know.

I especially loved the part of the article you posted where Lee wrote:

"Looters are criminals showing wanton disregard for the rights and property of others. Looters work sites without lawful right and usually without proper record keeping. Looters are thieves who are strictly in it for profit, and break all kinds of laws respecting public and private property. Looters should definitely be reported and if possible stopped.
Unfortunately, because like looters, Capitalistic Archaeologists are also interested in profit and typically market the artifacts they find, many Socialistic Archaeologists unfairly try to brand Capitalistic Archaeologists as looters. Those Socialistic Archaeologists are either trying to protect their own jobs by smearing others, or they simply don’t understand that Capitalistic Archaeologists are not looters and are people working within the law to aid the public (the courts have routinely defined salvage as in the best interest of the public).

Marketing is not looting. Marketing is a legal part of capitalism. Besides marketing is not just limited to actual sales, marketing can mean putting an item or collection on display for promotional purposes or for paid admissions. Which is what many on both sides are coming to feel is the best solution.

Capitalistic Archaeologists are not looters any more than Socialistic Archaeologists excavating ancient tombs are grave robbers."

Nice timing on posting this article, mheaster!

I'm having to resist the temptation to go and quote the entire article. It's great stuff, written by a man that knows what he's talking about. It frustrates me to see laws sometimes written that oppose Dr. Spence's view... Written by beaurocrats with no education or experience, and clear motives for power and financial gain.
