I was alerted to a classic quote on the front page of this week's Bali Times made by I Gusti Made Dhordy (former operations director of Bali Airport Authority) who recommends Nusa Penida as an ideal location for Bali's next airport, noting "Nusa Penida's coral reefs would provide excellent fill for runway foundation." He also mentioned that the required 13km bridge that would be needed to link the island to Bali would be a tourist attraction itself.

I guess we could look at the bridge instead of the mola molas, mantas and other marine life. That's progress for ya!

Well, that will happen when the Pink Pigs fly
Total BS again

really? You think if Jakarta is waving around a billion dollars for a new airport, there won't be some officials in Bali clammering to be in charge of the project with the hopes of dipping into the piggy bank?

Reef has been used as a building material before - Candidasa.
Then they had to put in a concrete artificial reef to stop the erosion.
