Popgun Pete, I would say wicked on the paralyzer! But having to take time to move it side to side while pulling it off is not fun. California is head shots, so slip-tip. Your fish look pretty mutilated. Nice post though. Thank you for all your informative posts!
You push the fish off with your feet even with a head shot. If you want to take photos of your catch unfortunately the ripped up results are not very photogenic and may be disturbing to non-spearos. You rarely see such photos for that reason! If circumstances allow then you can cut their heads off, i.e. no sharks in the vicinity and unfortunately at times the fish is still alive as the knife hits the spine on the way through. Then the head is cut off the pranger prongs. Main thing is you don't want to blunt your knife edge on the case hardened prongs and it is much easier with the fish detached from its head. Spearfishing can be butchery on a “grand guignol” scale, so best not recorded lest the sport stand condemned.
