Mike and I were joined by a great diver named Ted at Beismeyer Point on Sunday. Mike was trying out his drysuit for the first time. Dry dives 3 & 4 for me. On the first dive we visited the trees that were set up last weekend by Capt'n Pete and a host of divers. They did a great job. We saw a lot of litle guys in and around the trees but no big fish. Water temperature was 51 VT3 degrees. Warmer than the 43 degrees we enjoyed on the surface. Perfect drysuit weather. Before the first dive we could see the silt line from the recent inflow closing in on the south west side of the lake. Vis on the first dive was no better than 20". On the second dive we hit a spot where the vis was zero. We were only about 60 feet deep. The culvert is reportedly now at 92 feet. We never made it out that far but a couple of divers who came out after our first dive let us know.

The lake has really risen over the past two weeks. I saw my parking spot of two weeks ago at 32 feet. Hopefully the vis will improve as the inflow settles down. Looking forward to next weekend when I can continue working on this drysuit riddle.

Lake levels are up 3 feet over last four days.

Rescue class out at DT Road today.

Lake is still pretty muddy from all the rain, runoff and what not. Visibility is not good.
Water temp is 51 to 54 degrees depending on who's computer you are following.

Had a belligerent fisherman who decided to throw rocks at divers today. Fortunately his aim was as good as his fishing ability. He thought the entire cove at Desert Tortoise road should be shut down to divers, because he was there fishing first .... Stop laughing.

The sheriff's department escorted him and his family from the location. Hopefully, he will learn a few words that have more than four letters in it and he can come back to the sandbox and play nice. I hope his kids' mother washes his mouth out with soap. :D

Dove Vista Point today. As scubajcf reported above, the vis is really bad (0-3 feet). Under 30 feet its dark and you pretty much have to hug the bottom in order to have anything resembling a frame of reference. Temps are 51-52 Suunto. The good news is that the water level is within 40 feet of the parking area. I'd say another 10 or 15 feet of water and things will be at high water mark again.

There were lots of boats today though I fortunately didn't have to deal with any belligerent fishermen. One other group of divers was across the cove. Hopefully the silt will settle soon.

Thanks for keeping this thread updated! :clapping:

Do the Sand Sharks hang out at any particular LDS up there?

There are lots of great dive shops in Phoenix. We do have a social every month which is kind of a Sand Sharks event.

First Thursday of every month at the Elephant Bar in Scottsdale.
