As Steve said above, I have "shot" my SMB using just a bit of drag from my thumb on the line.. Also use it to find my way back to the anchor line when spearfishing in the maze created by our artificial reefs in NC.
Turn around twice and every concrete pipe or debris pile looks the same.
Makes life much easier and predictable
