Wow, I just checked and I first joined Scubaboard back in 2010. I was very motivated to dive back then and got my cert at a local scuba park. I learned a lot from this site and spent time in both the forums and on the chat rooms. I still see some familiar names, and some that are no longer with us. :-(
Having been certified for 8 years now, I'm ashamed that I only have 14 dives and all, but two, have been lake dives. The other two were at Epcot center in their amazing aquarium, which was a fantastic experience.
For various reasons (mostly being a single dad), I have not been able to get out of my DFW landlocked environment and get to the blue water. A few attempts on business trips to Florida didn't pan out due to weather.
I'm happy to say that I have taken the "plunge" and will doing a Liveaboard in Nassau this October. I'm super excited to get to where I had hoped to be many years ago.
Thanks to this site and members for the amount of knowledge and camaraderie it provides.
