removing metal clip

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find an answer on SB:

Is there an easy way to remove the metal clip? I've been fiddling with flathead screwdrivers and have had no luck. I'm at the point of taking a dremel to it and cutting it off.

I'm planningto attach it to my rig with zip ties or shockcord (I'm haven't decided yet) and the clip is just extra bulk.
