Hey there SoCal Brothers and Sisters,
I'll be on Catalina next week and would love to know what I might be able to expect. I know it will be warmer than up here in Carmel thank God. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and time.
Rob

I was at Casino Point on the 25th of July. Water in the mid 60s, upper 50s below the thermocline. Visibility was 40+ In short, pools open, come on down.

Thank you Melvin,
I am happy to receive this news. I am in need of a week away doing the things I love. Look forward to warmer water. 46 to 52 degrees is my norm. 60s sounds like the tropics at this moment. Thanks again for the reply. Be well!

Conditions? Great live music concert tonight in Wrigley Plaza topped off by karaoke at El Galleon.

Oh, you mean dive conditions! Reports of 40 ft vis yesterday, little surge, temps variable depending on depth due to thermocline. I got 69 F as my minimum temperature at 20 ft on a monitoring dive yesterday.

'Looks like great conditions lately. Some clouds and cooling later this week...any chance of rain?

My wife will try discover scuba this weekend - first time scuba in the ocean!

I was at the Isthmus (Ship rock, Bird Rock wall, and the Rock Quarry) Saturday (28th) and conditions were fantastic. Sun was out and water was mid-60's even at 60+ fsw. Virtually no current or surge. Vis 40 ft or so. Mostly flat, little wind at surface. I'd say best conditions of the year so far. Have fun!

Four dives yesterday at Casino Pt. Vis was perhaps 40 ft in some areas of the park I dove. Surge was settling down. No strong current. Balmy water temps (as high as 70 for my min temp). For some reason there was LOTS to see yesterday so I did four instead of my planned three dives.
