Looking for tips or local knowledge for a few tucked away scallop rec diving spots (areas not dragged, 15m ish or shallower) around Newfoundland for 2 small trips, about 5 guys each, in early September. We currently do most of our scallop diving in Clarenville or Gander Bay area, and have done our annual trips down to St Alban's as well, but we're looking for a change of scenery. Unfortunately, not having any idea where to get scallops can make or break the 4 day trip.
The areas we're considering at the moment are Bay Bulls on the east coast, Bay of Islands on the west, or Change Islands in central. We don't need any charters or dive shops nearby as we have our own compressor, tanks, boat, etc.
Any tips or advice on a spot could go a long way to helping plan this trip.
