Reach out to someone already doing it in your jurisdiction. I've been approached by two PSD teams but can't commit the time right now for training, but am interested in the future, so I keep in touch.

Welcome. I am the Team leader for Slidell PD. You likely saw me locally in the news on Saturday and after. There is definitely a need in our area with all of the water. Good luck. Below is an email I sent to Lamar Hires (Dive-Rite) linking the news stories and a post to the Cave Diver's Forum. Mark Michaud

Hey Lamar. I posted this on Cave Diver's Forum, but I wanted to make sure you knew how your thorough training has helped where you probably never anticipated. This is a copy and paste of the article. Thanks for your willingness to train me as it paid off in a big way. The first link starts as a slideshow, but a video follows and will load. Mark Michaud 985-960-1157

Terrilynn Monnette missing 3 months and 7 days recovered in Bayou St John
Though not, exactly, cave related I had the honor to be part of this search. Using my sidescan sonar, and many days of eliminating sites, I located her vehicle and remains. It was an extremely emotional time watching her mother and loved ones wonder where she was.

Using the skills I learned from Pat Watson and Lamar Hires I was able to video the scene, without disturbing the 6' of visibility I had, prior to moving the vehicle during extraction. Mark
