All are welcome for a weekend
of
Diving, Camping and Camaraderie!

We have reservations for
ScubaBoard's

Mark your calendars for

Come for 1 day or the whole weekend.
13661901_10154412888882803_1447593775441924258_o.jpg

All are welcome. This event is open to ALL dive levels, newbie, OW,
all the way to full cave certification.
If you don't have a buddy, don't worry, there are a bunch of us
and there's always someone ready for a dive!
Diving is set at your own pace, when and where you want in between eating and sleeping.
The only dive that is a scheduled dive will be the galaxy dive around dusk on Sat. evening.
As it is a family event, there are plenty of non divers and kids too.

Ginnie Springs has a full service dive shop and a pretty nice little store.
They also rent canoes, kayaks and tubes for use on the river or bring your own.
Check out their website below for further info, park maps and directions.
Florida Staycation vacation place for scuba diving & Florida ecotourism
Or give them a call at Ginnie Springs Outdoors 1-386-454-7188
You can even download their brochure and your dive release forms in advance.

When you get to Ginnie Springs, you'll need to check in the Main Office.
Please tell them your with the ScubaBoard Megadive group
as we get a 10% discount on camping and diving!
If you check in on Friday and won't be diving until Sat.,
go ahead and pay for your diving then and get your wrist bands.
It can get really busy on Sat. and you don't want to waste your time waiting in line again.
Sometimes we do a sunrise dive before the shop opens and
you don't want to miss one of the best dives of the day!
We have the whole Turkey Roost area reserved from the road back. Most of us will be tent camping.
There are separate sites for RV's and I do recommend reserving your spot if you are bringing yours.
Some though do stay in town at the motel, but you'll miss a lot of the fun...
There isn't electricity where we're tent camping, but the are several taps with running water and grills.
There is electricity at the pavilion and bathrooms w/showers are a short walk away.
Don't forget to bring chairs for around the fire and bug spray if the bugs like you.
No need to make reservations (unless you're bringing an RV), just sign up on this thread.
Let us know how many are attending in your party
and what you'll be bringing to pitch in for the group dinner and 2 breakfasts.
And please, would you be willing to help prepare and clean up for the meals.
If we all pitch in and take a task, it makes for a fun weekend for everyone.
Once a week up until the event, I'll update who's attending, the food list and volunteers.
Check for the latest list for ideas on what to bring and what's still needed.
If your traveling a ways to join us, why not add an extra day or 2 on to make it worth your time.

So come join us for a weekend of Fun!

Here is a rundown of the weekend...
Friday- All meals will be on your own. Some will go out to dinner; some will cook at the campsite. It's up to you.
Campfire - a little smores, a little music, a little singing, a little drinking(BYOB) or not, keeping it mild in anticipation of the big day of diving on Sat.

Saturday-
Brekky -
Mega Omelettes, group buffet style. Not to be missed...
Lunch- On your own.
Dinner - Group buffet style somewhere around 5:00. Bring something to share...
Let's keep the grill items to hamburgers, hot dogs, brats and chicken breasts.
Galaxy Dive - Around dusk. Not to be missed...
Campfire - Bring a costume if you like, but not required. A lot of music, a lot of singing, a lot of drinking(BYOB) or not. If you're musically inclined, bring your instruments. Just lots of fun! Not to be missed...

Sunday-
Brekky-
Mega Omelettes group style.

Hope you join us for this fun bi-annual (Spring and Fall) diving social event!
And if that doesn't convince you...
Check out the movie trailer from Oct. 2011

And some fun from 2015!

:):D:cool: See you there! :cool::D:)

Megadiver's Attending and Food List
Post that your attending, any guests with you, what you would like to bring,
and if you can help out with some of the chores it would be appreciated.
I'll add your name to the list at the end of the week.
Hope this helps! :d

Cardzard (Dennis) and Roxanne - A cooler full of water, diet and non diet sodas for the group dinner. Then for brkft, 18ct eggs, precooked bacon, sausage and ham, and some asst veggies for the omelettes.
And last but not least, Glow sticks for the galaxy dive.

For those who always ask what to bring. Here are some ideas...
Meat items for the grill
(We're trying to keep it simple so it doesn't take forever to cook for the group)
(Please keep it to Hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, chicken breast and premade items like pulled beef/pork, meatballs and shish kabobs. If you have something else you were thinking about and want to cook that yourself, that's great! Some have brought fryers or smokers and added to the meat items that way.) Don't forget the buns for items like hamburgers and hot dogs.
Eggs (We never seem to have enough.)
Items for the omelettes (additional meats, peppers, mushrooms, onions, olives, salsa, wraps, cheese, etc.)
Items for Breakfast (Juices, fruit, muffins, coffee, creamer, etc.)
Charcoal (self starting)
Condiments (cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, BBQ sauce etc.)
Paper towels and napkins
Heavy duty Paper Plates
(no Styrofoam please) and desert plates.
Plastic silverware
Bottled water
Side dishes
(casseroles, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, chips and dips/salsa, fruit salad, green salads w/dressing, veggie tray w/dip, etc.)
Deserts (Oh please don't forget the deserts!)
Tiki torches and fuel (for around the fire)
FIRE WOOD FOR THE CAMP FIRE (Any amount would be appreciated!)

We also need volunteers to help out during meals for the weekend. THANKS!!!!

If we all pitch in and take a task, it makes for a fun weekend for everyone.

If someone needs ICE on the way in,
there is a self-serve ICE machine when you leave High Springs
to turn on the road to go to Ginnie.
In addition to Ginnie's Springs store and dive shop,
Air Fills: Cave Country Diving - Home in High Springs where Salvo used to be.
(US Hwy 441)
There is a Winn-Dixie in High Springs, open 7 AM to 10 PM every day.
Also a Publix closer to the Interstate 75.
There is also a CVS Pharmacy right next to the Hardees.

If you have any questions, just ask. One of us will respond.

I'm hoping to get some manufacturers to this event. It should be FUNTASTIC!

WOOT WOOT, Can't wait!!! Lemme get the gang together to see what we are bringing/helping with!! There will be four of us..

Sounds like a good time. I'm in. Solo though most likely. Will not show up empty handed.

Unfortunately after packing my vehicle to the brim with literally ALL of my worldly possessiins for a move today I stopped at Walmart for an oil change and less than 1 hour after leaving my engine caught fire and I barely had enough time to pull over and escape. Less than 10mins later my life was reduced to a scorched pile of metal on the roadside along with all of my diving gear which was also my livelihood. Won't be attending now. Sad I'll miss it.

Oh my, so sorry to hear that. I hope things will get better for you. At least you were not hurt. Hopefully we'll be able to meet you at the next event.

Jsisemore, Chris of the Abyss and CownoseRachel are in! We can bring a couple dozen eggs, ham, chips and some of Chris' famous salsa. You can put me down for any chores, although I am an experienced egg cracker. :)
