OK, @The Chairman has convinced me that this is another one event I can't miss...

Who want's to demo some DEEP 6 Gear?
I'm just putting some things together and planning on driving down early tomorrow. I'm a Ginnie virgin... so I'll need someone to hold my hand...
I tend to make friends pretty easy, but I find even more so when I have goodies...
    So I'm bringing...
    Eddy Fins
    Signature Reg sets
    BackPlate/Harness and wings sets
    DEEP 6 Dry Suits

I might even have some t-shirts and goodies in the van...?
Make sure you come say hi!

    Can't wait to meet everyone.

Wonderful! We'll be in the Turkey Roost area! Cardzard and I will be there hopefully before noon. Most of the diving will be on Saturday and we have a good turnout!

For those who always ask what to bring. Here are some ideas...
    Meat items for the grill
(We're trying to keep it simple so it doesn't take forever to cook for the group)
(Please keep it to Hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, chicken breast and premade items like pulled beef/pork, meatballs, and shish kabobs. If you have something else you were thinking about and want to cook that yourself, that's great! Some have brought fryers or smokers and added to the meat items that way.) Don't forget the buns for items like hamburgers and hot dogs.
(We never seem to have enough.)
Items for the omelets (additional meats, peppers, mushrooms, onions, olives, salsa, wraps, cheese, etc.)
Items for Breakfast (Juices, fruit, muffins, coffee, creamer, etc.)
    Charcoal (self-starting)
Condiments (cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, BBQ sauce etc.)
    Paper towels and napkins
    Heavy-duty Paper Plates
(no Styrofoam please) and dessert plates.
    Plastic silverware
    Bottled water
    Side dishes
(casseroles, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, chips and dips/salsa, fruit salad, green salads w/dressing, veggie tray w/dip, etc.)
Deserts (Oh please don't forget the deserts!)
Tiki torches and fuel (for around the fire)
FIRE WOOD FOR THE CAMP FIRE (Any amount would be appreciated!)

We also need volunteers to help out during meals for the weekend. THANKS!!!!

If we all pitch in and take a task, it makes for a fun weekend for everyone.

If someone needs ICE on the way in,
there is a self-serve ICE machine when you leave High Springs
to turn on the road to go to Ginnie.
In addition to Ginnie's Springs store and dive shop,
Air Fills: Cave Country Diving - Home in High Springs where Salvo used to be.
    (US Hwy 441)
There is a Winn-Dixie in High Springs, open 7 AM to 10 PM every day.
Also a Publix closer to the Interstate 75.
There is also a CVS Pharmacy right next to the Hardees.

If you have any questions, just ask. One of us will respond.
You can find additional info on the event in the next post.

All are welcome for a weekend
    Diving, Camping and Camaraderie!

    Fallfest Megadive 2017

    Mark your calendars for
    Oct. 20th - Oct 22, 2017

Come for 1 day or the whole weekend.
All are welcome. This event is open to ALL dive levels, newbie, OW,
all the way to full cave certification.
If you don't have a buddy, don't worry, there are a bunch of us
and there's always someone ready for a dive!
Diving is set at your own pace, when and where you want in between eating and sleeping.
The only dive that is a scheduled dive will be the galaxy dive around dusk on Sat. evening.
As it is a family event, there are plenty of non divers and kids too.

Ginnie Springs has a full service dive shop and a pretty nice little store.
They also rent canoes, kayaks and tubes for use on the river or bring your own.
Check out their website below for further info, park maps and directions.
Florida Staycation vacation place for scuba diving & Florida ecotourism
Or give them a call at Ginnie Springs Outdoors 1-386-454-7188
You can even download and fill out your dive release forms in advance.

When you get to Ginnie Springs, you'll need to check in the Main Office.
Please tell them your with the ScubaBoard Megadive group
as we get a 10% discount on camping and diving!

If you check in on Friday and won't be diving until Sat.,
go ahead and pay for your diving then and get your wrist bands.
It can get really busy on Sat. and you don't want to waste your time waiting in line again.
Sometimes we do a sunrise dive before the shop opens and
you don't want to miss one of the best dives of the day!
We have the whole Turkey Roost area reserved from the road back.
Most of us will be tent camping.
There are separate sites for RV's and I do recommend reserving your spot if you are bringing yours.
Some though do stay in town at the motel, but you'll miss a lot of the fun...
There isn't electricity where we're tent camping,
but there is electricity at the pavilion and bathrooms w/showers are a short walk away.

Don't forget to bring chairs for around the fire and bug spray if the bugs like you.
No need to make reservations (unless you're bringing an RV), just sign up on this thread.
Let us know how many are attending in your party
and what you'll be bringing to pitch in for the group dinner and 2 breakfasts.
And please, would you be willing to help prepare or clean up for the meals.

If we all pitch in and take a task, it makes for a fun weekend for everyone.
Once a week up until the event, I'll update who's attending, the food list and volunteers.
Check for the latest list for ideas on what to bring and what's still needed.
If your traveling a ways to join us, why not add an extra day or 2 on to make it worth your time.

So come join us for a weekend of Fun!

Here the basic rundown for weekend...

    All meals will be on your own. Some will go out to dinner;
some will cook at the campsite. It's up to you.
A little smores, a little music, a little singing, a little drinking(BYOB) or not,
keeping it mild in anticipation of the big day of diving on Sat.

Mega Omelettes, group buffet style. Not to be missed...
    On your own.
    Underwater Pumpkin Carving (Noon)
Bring a pumpkin, your design and your carving tools.
Group buffet style somewhere around 5:00. Bring something to share...
Let's keep the grill items to hamburgers, hot dogs, brats and chicken breasts.
    Galaxy Dive
Around dusk. Not to be missed...
A lot of music, a lot of singing, a lot of drinking(BYOB) or not.
Bring a costume if you would like to dress up for Halloween.
If you're musically inclined, bring your instruments. Just lots of fun! Not to be missed...

    Mega Omelettes group style.

Hope you join us for this fun bi-annual
(Spring and Fall) Diving Social Event!

    :):D:cool: See you there! :cool::D:)

I was hoping to make it to Ginnie Springs tonight but after stopping to buy a new tent because I can't find the old one I felt it was too late to drive there and set up my tent in the dark.
So with that said, is there anything you guys really need (within reason) that I can pick up tonight from Wally-World?

The grounds are damp and muddy in certain areas but overall the place is in really good condition.
The river has a swift current but the springs are clear and debris free making for a great dive.
