That o-ring just protects the threads, it doesn't seal the hose. You can leave it or remove it. The sealing o-ring is inside the hose fittings.
The SP splined hoses may be marketed as 'heat sinks' but I think they're just there to annoy DIYers who need a special SP wrench to remove the hoses.

Annoying or not, any increase in surface area is for heat transfer. The jam spline nut, at a minimum, should stay. No opinion on the hose nut.

The jam nut, sure I can see that. But I'm not sure that the splines make much of a difference. I understand they add some surface area.

On the two G250Vs I have I'm trying to get Halcyon Halo jam nuts, but finding them is like finding a unicorn. I've tried Extreme Exposure but contact with them I've found is hot and miss. Anyone got a lead on some? Cheers.
