I dove with the 450D housing before the 500D was released.
The focus / flash button is short on the 450D housing, if you tape a small 2mm pad to the camera it'll work 100%..
I've been diving the 500D and it's been working great.

Thank you for your answer. Can you describe me the position of the focus / flash button which seems to have different functions on the 450D.
On 450D the focus button is for memory exposure (the second from the right on the back-side top).

yeah, that is the one.. if you look at the two pads you'll see that one is higher then the other.
I just used a small thin pad and taped it on to the T1i camera, in the 500D housing those two pads are the same height. Other then that change, there is more foam pads to secure the camera.
One issue I have with the housing is the base plate on the camera, you can't change batteries.
