Diver possibly bitten by shark near Haulover Inlet, authorities say
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - A boater who was diving Thursday in waters near Haulover Inlet was hospitalized after possibly being bitten by a shark, authorities said.

The incident was reported around 12:40 p.m. off the 10300 block of Collins Avenue.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokeswoman Erika Benitez said the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The extent of the victim's injuries was not immediately released.

So did a did a shark possibly bite him? Or was he bitten and it was possibly a shark? I’m not sure this could have been any more vague.

Yeah, the Fire Rescue did their job to whatever extent, identifying the fish was not included, and the reporter filed a story based on their limited report. We always hope some local will add to the thread here.

Was the diver possibly doing this

Spearos often use private boats and attract sharks by their kills. We are not the apex predator when we're in their territory.

Reminds me of an excellent essay by David Quammen, published in Outside some years ago, entitled "Humble Is the Prey." In the realms of Komodo dragons, grizzlies, and so forth, people learn something new and humbling about themselves and their place in the middle of the food chain, and that can be a good thing.
