It asked a bunch of questions, offering a reward for answering. I skipped out of it before the reward part, which is where I suppose the scam worked. It asked questions about ScubaBoard participation, etc.

I've had the same problem with SB a few times in the past. I assume it's something wonky with one of the ads you're presenting, it probably eventually gets caught by google or whatever middle-man is reselling the ads. When I've had it happen, a clearing of the cache is in order to eliminate it. I don't think I've had it happen at all since I switched to uBlock Origin for ad blocking.
