Is there a significant difference in the quality of the SL961 over the older model SL960?
 
AFAIK they are the same power but the 961 has an autoexposure mode in the strobe itself, not sure how well it works.

SL960 doesn't work with preflash, I believe. SL960D and SL961 do. If you're using a digital cam with a preflash that can't be turned off, you need the 960d or 961. Otherwise the flash goes off early and doesn't light the subject.
