How much CFM from thetair compressor does it need to run?
I'm curious what the minimum CFM, and would it run on 3 CFM?

I drove it from an AL80 I would get a few fills from that, plus more if I purposefully underfilled. I think some people run them from a shop compressor but no idea about CFM. Could be in here somewhere:

I drove it from an AL80 I would get a few fills from that, plus more if I purposefully underfilled. I think some people run them from a shop compressor but no idea about CFM.

I run a larger AG-30 off of my 5 CFM shop compressor. If you operate it at about 1 cycle every 5-6 seconds the compressor should keep up at around 90-100 psi. That works well for O2 as it keeps everything nice and cool - just mildly warm to the touch.

The drive section is separate from the gas section but if you've ever over hauled a haskel you'll appreciate the benefit of clean drive air. Consequently, I run the air coming out of my compressor through a 50' hose coiled in a 5 gallon bucket filled with water (with two 3/4" holes drilled in the lid for the hose to pass through to minimize evaporation) to act as a condenser, then a water separator to remove the condensed water and a finally a desiccant filter to remove any remaining oil and moisture. My compressor also has two outlets so I can run the shop air off one and the clean air off the other.
