Some great diving here at the moment, Sekatong being more relaxed with warmer water 26 to 27 C. and visibility is in the 12 to 25 meter range. Daily sighting of sharks, turtles, rays and coral is in excellent shape.
Got a chance to dive Belongas Bay yesterday 'the big daddy' down here, with cold temps, ripping currents (down and out) and the Hammer Heads. We had it all!!! Yesterday, making 3 dives to Cathedral Rock, The Magnet, and Gili Sarang. First two dives were in the 30 meter depth range, and the Magnet lived up to its reputation with a large school of Hammer Heads peering down on us, after they left, a stray Hammer Head came in for a closer look. This could be best described as an 'adrenaline dive'. Cathedral Rock has large schools of Tuna, sea snakes, Giant Moray and more. We finished up the day (cold) in Gili Sarang, our guide said it was the calmest of the 3 dives, she got quite the shock when the current was ripping, but we rode it out through some beautiful coral gardens, many rays, turtles and at the end 'devil rays' were surrounding us on our safety stop.
Belongas Bay is for advanced divers, 100 or more dives, and they do check log books here. Sekatong is much more relaxed for OW divers and photographers.
George the owner of 'The Dive Zone' is quite accommodating and can arrange transportation and accommodation. It's rather remote here, and not much else to do except dive or surf, I'll stick to diving.
