SSI certified but took PADI courses

Yep, agreed. It makes absolutely no difference. PADI logbook, SSI logbook, bit of paper, toilet roll, whatever. The important part is the diving. How to choose to record that afterwards is entirely up to you.
 
My first 60 dives (I have PADI OW and AOW) were in another logbook. It ran out at 50 and I copied and taped in the back the last 10 dives to have one log thru 60. Then I started using my SSI log book. I continue to use my SSI logbook even after changing to NAUI (my friend sold his shop so I no longer have that SSI connection) because it's a ring binder and I just add refills, and I like that format. So it really doesn't matter
