Wife and I are experienced divers with open circuit and Hollis rebreathers. We are looking to be in the St. Lawrence between the 15th and 25th August. We will be at Wellesley Island most of the time however we would like to go on some local dive trips on Wrecks.
My question to you is this. Is it worthwhile us bringing our rebreathers up there? Is the water and wrecks deep enough to justify it? Do the local shops support rebreathers? Or is it better just to go open circuit?
Also can you recommend a dive shop or shops that do charters to the Wrecks in the area and what is your experience with them. Close or in Clayton would be great.

Thank you

I suggest you talk to:

Jay Robbins at St. Lawrence Aquatics - facebook him or his tele# is 315-408-2291

I spent an afternoon diving with him (not on his boat, just through common friends), and would not hesitate to use his services based on just talking & diving with him...

(I am a "fringe" technical diver, but no experience w/ RB, or its application in the St. Lawrence)

The deeper wrecks on the St. Lawrence are on the Canadian side. I would contact Dive Tech in Mallorytown-a few miles right over into Canadian side-http://www.divetech.ca/ -I know that shop is full tech and rebreather friendly.

sorry I thought the Jodrey was in Canadian waters.

Finger Lakes Scuba operates charters Friday- Monday out of A-Bay. Great knowledge and top notch.

Andrew from Blue Foot Diving pumped a bunch of oil off the Jodrey and knows it like no other. He is also a real pioneer in the rebreather world. If you are a rebreather diver you'd be remiss not to dive with him. His boat is also right across the river from the Jodrey and convenient to where you are staying. The Jodrey is an incredible wreck with lots of relief off the bottom, perfect for a rebreather. Depths can reach well past 200'.

I second the Dive Tech recommendation. Dan runs a fantastic shop and it is super tech friendly..... basically a tech divers wet dream..Santi, DUI, Halcyon, Dive Right, Apeks, Hollis...wall to wall scooters.

Just came back from diving there. Plenty of good wrecks in all sorts of depths. Dove a lot of wrecks in the 80-100 ft range. Recommend the America, Daryaw, and Keystorm if you are looking for site recommendations.

All good dives. I will be doing the Keystorm and America this weekend with the new Petrel I just bought from Dan. :)
