wow... odd

i wonder why the eagle ray jumped so close to the boat...

very odd

to get to the other side?

weird.....eagle ray....JUMP....JUMP

While on the surface I saw a ray do three successive leaps out of the water in Menjangan, Bali. I think it was a manta ray. I assumed it was fleeing predation.

Those rays seem to be copping a bit of attitude of late. Probably has to do with global warming.

They don't call it "wildlife" for nothing.

So I was getting ready for work this morning watching CNN and I saw this quick segment about a man boating off Miami when a "stingray" lept from the water, into the boat, and stung him in the chest!

Apparently he will require open heart surgery. So then they show a picture of the suspect ray and it was a spotted eagle ray! I didn't know they had barbs? Has anyone else heard of this?

So anyway, I checked out the miami paper and this is what I found. These poor guys are getting some bad press lately...
