glad things are consistent. it's been a toss-up between a frogfish and a crab here as well. Still nothing conclusive here either. Nobody is quite sure what it is really. Thanks everyone. I sure hope to get something conclusive on this one real soon.
 
Okay, I've been given the professional opinion of it being a species of spider crab in the Micippa genus. Dandy.

I googled for micippa genus but couldn't find any photo. Is this an uncommon crab? Besides Philippines, where can you find it?
 
I don't know jack about this thing, just passing along the message. Oh wait, it's found in the Indo Pacific. That's not very useful.
 
Very interesting. The izuzuki link shows something of the sort but lacks the blinking eyes, and mouth with teeth.
