Good Morning-

I think I have decided on my camera, so now I need to find a good strobe. My first question is whether there is a website that says what strobes are compatible with what housings...or are they all compatible with each other. I am looking into getting the Ikelite 6140.57 housing (Ikelite | 6140.57 Underwater Housing for Can | 6140.57 | B&H).

The strobes I am looking at are as follows. Are these compatible with the 6140.57 housing??

1. The INON D2000--this doesn't appear to come with an arm? Is there anywhere that sells it with the arm? If not what arm should I buy for it?

2. The YS27

3. The AF-35

Of these, which one do people like best?

Which one would be the best to grow with, maybe to a DSLR eventually?

If I wanted to get a second strobe later on, are these able to be used as part of a set?

And finally my last qustion...based upon the links above for the housing and strobes is there anything else I would need (besides the camera of course)? I read this in another thread

You will also need a tray unless your camera has mounting points, and a sync cord if that is how you intend to trigger it.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi;

I sell a large selection of Lighting Packages that fit most any digital camera. All are expandable and can be fitted with your own, or any of the three strobes I sell; The Fantasea NanoFlash, Sea & Sea YS27Dx or YS110. Packages run from $184 to $799. Optical Ocean Packages are modular; you can add a second handle/arm/strobe or focus light later if you like.

None of the strobes you're looking at will really work with a DSLR, at least alone. I've used several Inon strobes and they are very nice, but also expensive. The YS110 would offer the same or better, features as the Inon D2000 - with a huge advantage of being able to be used in hardwired sync with a DSLR in the future. It's roughly the same price.

Ball and joint arms are much more adjustable, modular and adaptable to whatever system you end up with in the future.
