A former medical student at Michigan State University allegedly killed 13 dogs because he was frustrated with them, the Lansing State Journal reported on Wednesday.

Andrew David Thompson told the police he had been killing Italian greyhounds since September 2010. According to court records, Thompson would throw the dogs against the wall or beat them until they were dead.

Someone from the Italian Greyhound community has created a petition in the hopes that Mr. Thompson is banned from ever seeking a career in the medical field. It would be appreciated if you could sign the petition at Support Justice for 13 Italian Greyhounds.

I signed it, but does something of this magnitude really need a petition? (Meaning I'd hope he'd be banned from practising medicine in the future based on his mental state alone, never mind murdering living creatures and the subsequent police record.)

Unless there is a statute of limitations, shouldn't he be charged with animal cruelty? That is a felony. that would 1. make it very difficult for him to get his medical license in almost any state & 2. would make it impossible for him to obtain a DEA license to prescribe controlled substances.
