SYD - Koror travel options

What route/airlines provide the least painful travel from Australia to Palau?
it doesn't look like there is any way around multiple flights and obnoxious, middle of the night arrival/departure times.
Micronesia usually means Continental, but can any comment on experiences with alternate carriers like Korean Air, Asiana?
how about routes? Any preference on going through Manila, Inchon, Taiwan etc?

I would have to think that the most painless route would be Cairns-Guam-Palau, but then I've never flown from Australia to Palau.

There are other ways, but Sydney-Cairns-Guam-Palau is quickest I think.

I was just looking at Brisbane- Palau. It seems Cairns -Guam- Koror is the easiest and cheapest, although I was offered Brisbane -Manila -Koror. Better flight times, but more expensive.
