Are there differences between PSI and CGA standards for pit depth in tank walls? Do they see a difference between steel and aluminum?

No, and Yes

"Inspecting Cylinders" by William High (President of PSI)
on the bottom of pg 25 talks about CGA in its C6.1 guide, setting suggested maximums for aluminum wall penetrations by general or pitting corrosion.

Next page mentions steel cylinders having much thinner walls therefore less metal loss is allowed.
