I haven't read all the posts in this thread so maybe my response in redundant. The Perdix comes with two o-rings to seal the battery compartment which the user has access to change the battery, which uses one AA battery. The Petral, I believe, has only one o-ring. The Perdix's screen is slightly smaller but is brighter than the Petral. It's already been mentioned that the Perdix has a thinner profile than the Petral.
