I'd caution against buying a new Apeks first stage right now. I've personally had 4 seat failures in the last year and know a guy that's had 6. Older ones should be fine as long as they haven't been rebuilt using the new seats.!

I just rebuilt all mine with kits from Northeast Scuba. I'm pretty sure these are aftermarket kits. Any comments on them?

I was at a Cave Diving shop yesterday. Owner stated he used to sell OMS, but Dive Rite is really out growing everyone in the Tech World. He liked OMS, but is concerned they may be in financial trouble presently. He believes Hollis is grabbing a solid number 2 position.

In his opinion he prefers Apeks Regulators, as the best for Cave diving. While Dive Rite are good Regulators, he did not believe a lot of shops rebuild them presently. He said my Atomic M1s, even sealed still get dirt in them, and it eventually gouges the piston.

Anyone have thoughts on this?

Apeks has a serious problem with the hp seats blowing. This has been happening for a few years now and many people are dumping them. OMS is now part of DUI. In cave country I see more Halcyon back plates and wings than anything else.
