For anyone inyerested & who will be here on Sunday there's an air show scheduled.

Too bad I didn't know before leaving home so I could have brought my air show lens & camera. I'll make do with what I have & see how it goes.

Seems that the owner of Hotel Cozumel is a big part of this & they had a pilots meeting etc here that just adjorned. According to one of the organizers the practice sessions are Friday & Sat mornings and the event on Sunday will allow spectators pretty close to the planes while on the ground for static photos. The event is at the Private Airport located about 1 mile north of the Reef Club (AKA Sabor or Wyndham) and admission is FREE.
There are some very skilled pilots here so if you're into this kind of thing it's worth spending some time there.

Great pics... Love the MX-2.. I used to have the 40% R/C version with a 2.9 meter wingspan, smoke and the whole 9 yards..

That being said, what an incredibly dangerous airshow.... I can't believe the spectator line was mere yards from the edge of the runway, while you have a Pitts Biplane bulldogging a knife-edge line-cut just above the runway... Easy way to end up with mass causalities..

Glad nothing broke! But, I'm sure it was exciting!

I shoot most of the RC events in our area and using the link to this album all you need to do is click on Larry's Gallery for them. There's even a few photos in one from this summer of an MX in a very similar scheme.

As for the safety aspect YES it could get ugly fast if anything goes wrong. The pilot stations at most of our R/C events are about the same distance from the flight line as at this full sized flight line.

Great albums! I enjoyed surfing through them. Have you even considered going to Joe Nall? I've been a time or two but my addiction to diving has thinned out my fleet and available time to travel.. I'm in the middle of building out a cargo trailer conversion dedicated to both diving and flying. I hope 2013 will see me at Nall again (as well as other events), followed by many Carolina wreck dives after the event.. Out of all my big birds, I couldn't stand to part with my Python.. Being a biplane lover, that giant scale "Ford" Pitts in your album stood out quickly.

Maybe we'll cross paths one day.. Either way, keep up the great shots!

David
