I used to do a lot of harbor diving with the Navy so my thing used to be coffee mugs. Apparently some sailors did not like to walk all the way back to the scullery so they just pitched the mugs overboard. Found some old ones in Long Beach, San Diego, Pearl Harbor and Esquimalt (I guess Canadians do it too!)

    What a great thread!

Once I lost my knife (bright yellow). I put it back in the sheath after using but didn't lock it correctly so it fell out. 2 days later I went to the same dive site, there was someone else there who had found my knife on his 1st dive. He said he lost HIS knife and proceeded to describe it (black). I jokingly said I'd keep an eye out for it, thinking there's almost no chance of finding something black in the murky rocky kelp forest. Our visibility at that site is usually about 10'. But sure enough I DID find it. When he came back from his 2nd dive I returned it to him. He was quite surprised!

Found yesterday at a rope swing 4 go pros, 3 wrist watches, 5 Apple watches, 2 anchors, 1 gold necklace and one cool bracelet.... Not bad for a 60 min dive...

What's the legality of finding a gun? I assume you're supposed to report it?

I would assume, finders keepers, but we took it to the police. I believe they just checked the serial number against theft.
