Divers of the Guardia Civil found the arm of the German Photo: Guardia Civil on Saturday (28.7.)
The two Germans, who were seriously injured in a diving accident at Es Trenc on Mallorca on Saturday , are in stable condition. According to sources in the Son Espases Hospital, the 20-year-old, whose arm was separated from a motorboat, was already housed in a regular ward. His 26-year-old diving buddy, is still in intensive care, but not in mortal danger. The doctors had had to amputate a leg after the boat had shot over it.

The two were on late Friday afternoon (27.7.) With diving scooters about 300 meters from the shores of Es-Trenc beach on the way - outside the bathing area and without marking their position with a buoy. The approaching motorboat did not hear them under the water surface and the occupants of the vehicle overlooked the Germans.

The 20-year-old's arm was severed from the shoulder at the moment of the accident. Divers of the Guardia Civil searched him until Friday night and finally found him at noon Saturday (28.7.) Sewing on him is not possible. The 26-year-old suffered such severe cuts to the leg that the rescue workers had to take it off him.

Did they have a flag...are flags even required in Spain?

I hate to sound like a hardass, but need to understand the diving environment, including topside activities, before jumping in. Maybe the boat in that area was really unusual, don't know.

Required or not, still a very good idea. "...without marking their position with a buoy."

A completely avoidable incident period. Why proper planning on every dive is important.
Nevertheless I prey for there full recovery.

Other sources mention they were swimming, not diving. That would explain a lot.

The accident occurred on Friday afternoon at Es Trenc beach. A place especially traveled on these dates by all types of boats. Two young Germans tested two submarine scooters 300 meters from the shore without using the mandatory buoy to signal their position.

Accident of divers in es Trenc: an arm between posidonia

They find the amputated arm of one of the wounded divers in TrencDos injured critics by amputation in the platform of Es Trenc

Against the clock. GEAS submariners submerged Friday night to search for the amputated limb at es Trenc and continued on Saturday morning. On the second dive, they found his arm and took him to the hospital. The doctors already said that it was not reimplantable.

The divers of the Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Civil Guard mobilized on Friday against the clock. The objective was to find the arm of a young German sectioned by a propeller to try to reimplant him. Despite the impetuous efforts and nocturnal dives, it was the next morning when the hidden limb was found in a posidonia meadow. Unfortunately, it was no longer fit to be reimplanted.
The accident occurred on Friday afternoon at Es Trenc beach. A place especially traveled on these dates by all types of boats. Two young Germans tested two submarine scooters 300 meters from the shore without using the mandatory buoy to signal their position.

The crew of the boat noticed that they had passed over a 26-year-old man. They put him on board and he had a deep cut on one leg. His friend, 20, was in the water, with one arm amputated at shoulder height. Both were rescued and stabilized in Son Espases.

Search "groping"

The arm was hidden in the posidonia meadow. About eight o'clock in the afternoon of Friday, in the dark, the divers of the GEAS tried to find the extremity "groped", highlighted a diver from the Armed Institute, in the posidonia meadow without success.

The next morning they went back to their old ways. The doctors of Son Espases already certified that the arm was not reimplantable. But the Civil Guard submariners did not give up their efforts. After palpating the posidonia, on the second dive they came up with the limb and took her to the hospital. Despite the efforts, it was not possible to reimplant it
