Brief recap, due to my work schedule it's been hard to find a dive buddy so I've recently gone diving solo to try and improve my dry suit buoyancy. I resorted to removing weight which didn't help. I remember someone mentioning that it would be a good ideal to have someone experienced watch me dive, so they can make suggestions. So early in the week I ended up going to a different dive shop across town and paid for a refresher course with a Divemaster (Greg). Before he got me in the pool he said most issues are caused by overweighting. He asked how much weight I was using and I replied 24 pounds, I had removed 4 pounds by then. He said that's way to much. After all said in done, I was able to descend with only 10 pounds. Afterwards he told me that instructors/Divemasters sometimes add more weight than is needed.
So today I went out to the lake, with 10 pounds in my bcd. Lo and behold my buoyancy was spot on. I was overjoyed and had so much fun swimming around. While Greg fixed me up real quickly, I still enjoyed and learned a lot on my own while solo diving. I ran into real life situations and calmy solved them and I was on the verge of solving my buoyancy as I did start removing weights.
