Hi guys,

recently I post thread: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/un...515424-replacing-battery-l-m-sola-4000-a.html

today I received sonata 4400 Lion batteries, but I need to connect them. Original (old) batteries are somehow crimped/soldered, I just dont want to destroy without knowing what I am doing.

Please check photos I made:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/n8rdg078skmjb8y/AABDRufSlAPzcMVY2TBlscN2a?dl=0

- on 2 first photos are new batteries I got
- on 3. photo is everything together (new and old)
- on other photos are original batteries

I have exactly one day to fix this (leaving to diving trip, liveboard) - thats why it is urgent, my questions:
- it is ok just to solder cables on new batteries ?
- what I should be careful of ?

Please advice, thanks!

Batteries are usually spot welded to the tabs so that the cells aren't overheated during the soldering process.

If you had gotten batteries with tabs, soldering wouldn't have been an issue at all. If you have batteries without tabs, you have to use a battery welder. It works very quickly without exploding the battery. If you don't have tabs, DO NOT try to solder to the Li Ion batteries. When they catch fire, it's really not good. Google Li Ion battery fires.

thank you guys. yes I read on google what I could - there are some rules, what to do and what not to do. I brought battery to one repair computer shop (I am on travel, so if I want to fix it, with questionable result, I would have to buy soldering stuff), so the guy did a work.

Now I am charging the battery, it seems it is working, but we will see. :)
