Overall i am seeing tmobile to be cost effective compared to vzw.. how about within USA like remote places eg. DV nat park, gc, other remote places?

Any difference in reception between vzw, tmobile, at&t?

It's going to be hit & miss.
Some areas will offer usable reception on one network and not the other and vice versa. It can depend on your phone's antenna as well.

That said, this T-Mobile customer will admit that on a nationwide basis, Verizon has the best coverage. I've found T-Mobile at the very worst, at least acceptable, and generally outstanding. From a customer service standpoint, either in the brick and mortar stores or by phone, they are simply awesome.

My unlimited T-Mobile plan, with absolutely no charges to/from Mexico and Canada costs me $139.60 for 4 lines, or $34.90 each.

Just received an email from T-Mobile this week about adding a package for 120(?) countries. It wasn't much - sorry, not inclined to look it up.

If your phone is unlocked or you are buying a new phone (I recommend a dual sim card unlocked model) just buy a Mexican sim card with two weeks unlimited text and data. Usually costs around $10.

I use a cheap phone for travel that I picked up on ebay. That way if anything happens to it like theft or damage, no big deal.

Mexico is included on most Verizon plans now BUT after you reach half a gig in data daily, they slow you down to 3G and are notified with a text and can pay $5 for high speed data. This resets at midnight daily.

If it's a pleasure trip, that could be a clue.

Except most of us use our phone for so much more than texting or calling. Our phones are highly customized with our apps and our data.

So is mine. Which is why I leave it in the hotel room. Don't need all that jazzle when I'm on a boat or around town. I keep my email and whatsapp on my "burner".
