I'm not a doctor. I dont even play one on tv....
but I cant see how this can be interpreted as having any value
...

The primary evaluating factor was mortality. ....

Johnson and his colleagues, conclude doxycycline reduces mortality, although this effect was not statistical (sic) significant.

Most interesting, thanks! Usually, only those working in the same specific field of research get to see something this early along.

It appears, to me, that the researchers conducted a meta-analysis (https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/neuroscience/meta-analysis) which is nothing more than a statistical analysis of the results of many other published and closely related studies. It also appears that Doxycycline popped up as it showed a high enough significance that it was publishable even though it is still inside the error bounds that the researchers chose.

In words: "maybe, maybe not, but it is clearly worth pursuing". You can bet that some team is now designing a study focussed directly on Doxycycline.

Maybe one of the scuba docs will give their thoughts (or correct mine)...
