Are you looking to build your own HID light? If so please let me know what you find out. I've looked at doing the same thing before and found it to be very expensive, not to mention hard to find the components needed to build a decent sized light head. I just resorted to building a halogen canister light. It was much cheaper and easier to do. I have a web site where I've posted a lot of info on how I built my light and I invite people to post pictures and info on their lights. If you'd like to take a look at the site, and maybe post some info on what you find, please feel free.

Scott,

will let you know when i have completed the project maybe around May this year.

or earlier depending on the demand of night dives this season. if by march the night dive bug had set in, April would be the time we may see on the HID project.

)

I recieved the following info back by email:
When you purchase an MR16 HID Light (price $159.95) a ballast is included,
because every light requires its own ballast. You can purchase the parts
directly from us... HID-M-L pricing at $159.95 each light and ballast combo.
You can order the parts online or by calling 360-687-4530.

92Longx46Widex32Deep. The lamp can be removed from our
housing (Our housing is not waterproof). The lamp will match any other MR16
on the market. The only part the differs with MR16's is that some have
front glass and some do not (Ours has front glass).

Sounds like it would work, the bulb has the front glass installed. I assume that the dimentions they gave you are in mm. I'll have to convert it to inches but I'm woundering if the ballast will fit into a "D" cell Mag-Lite?
