I'm looking to plan a trip to Vancouver Island this fall including Nanaimo. Can anyone tell me where to go? I understand that there are some great artificial reefs there.

I love scuba diving in cold northwest water!

Check out http://www.divingbccanada.com/default.htm I dive with them frequently and they will take good care of you. If the timing is right I may even dive with you as long as you let me know well in advance when you will be here.
There are 2 large artificial reefs some really good drift diving and lots of big octopus and wolf eels to see.
Also there is a book called 99 Dives from the San Juan Islands in Washington to the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island in British Columbia. It will give you plety of dive options. While in Nanaimo check out these guys http://www.thediveoutfitters.com/ Very friendly should be able to get you diving.
