I just got back from Phuket where I did 20 dives with my VDH 18 on my old DSS steel backplate. I was very happy with it. It fit fine on the plate with just the cambands to hold it in place and pretty much disappeared when I was diving which is the whole point of a travel wing. I didn't use a wetsuit so 18# of lift was more than enough. It's been a few years since I dived with my DSS LCD 20 wing, so I can't offer a straight comparison. But it's a moot point anyway since you can't buy the DSS wing anymore (Tobin didn't even respond to my e-mail asking if he would fix mine). Bottom line, the wing is well made, performs great and is priced well. It even looks good.
