Im looking to buy my first BC and am considering the Vector Epic and Vector 1000. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between these two

Andy,
Listed below are bullet points outlining some features of both bc's. The Epic would be considered our "entry level" (price) weight integrated bcd. Really a great value. The Vector 1000 is built a little tougher, has more trim, bells, and whistles yet costs a few $ more. Hope this helps, if you need specifics on anything please post back.

Vector 1000:
• BPS Plus for complete comfort

MRS Plus integrated weight

One of the most famous classically constructed BC's.
A Mares classic, updated not only to improve comfort and style, but especially to achieve greater lift capacity.

• MRS Plus included (6kg/13lbs capacity per pocket in size L)
• Trim Weight pockets that can hold up to 4kg/9lbs total
• Ergo Inflator
• Two rear quick-dump/over-expansion relief valves
• QAS
• SAHS
• BPS Plus
• Two zippered pockets are angled for ease of opening and closing
• Grommets for attaching the Mares Force knife collection
• Materials:
- Cordura® Duroskin exterior/420 nylon interior
- 6 AISI 304 bent stainless steel D-rings

Vector Epic:
• MRS Plus
• BPS
• Elastic cummerbund
• 2 zippered pockets are angled for ease of opening and closing
• 420 denier buoyancy bag
• Plastic rings
• Two rear quick dump/over-expansion relief valves
• Dual position hose clip for your gauges
• Stainless Steel ring on the right shoulder pad
• 1 fastex on the left shoulder pad

Thanks Zak, Im travelling to the US next month so hoping to pick a BC up there, Im probably looking at the Epic due to the price, a few questions, what weight capacity do the pockets have, are there trim pockets and what does BPS mean. Thanks.

Andy,

I have seen 15lbs. of soft "shot" weight put in them, A little cramped though. We publish 13lbs per side in the ditchable weight pockets (bcd size M -XL) The smaller bcds are 9lbs. Epic does not include trim pockets. Vector 1000 does.

BPS is Back Protection System. An acronym for our back pad. Vector 1000 has more cushion.

Epic is a great bcd at a great value. The vector 1000 has nicer features but that's what you paying for right? :)

Sincerely,
