Filipino diver (PADI OpenWater) here, visitin southern california end of may (LA/SnDiego)

any tips on where to go? what to expect?
who to contact?

relatively new to diving, and been only to dive spots in the Philippines (Anilao Batangas, Boracay Island, Coron Palawan)... would like to see new things and meet nice people.

There is a lot of territory between LA and San Diego, so I'm not sure exactly what to tell you. You might want to check out the diving around Catalina or the wrecks off of San Diego. One thing, though, the water temperature is going to be a lot colder for you - it's about 59 now. You might want to hook up with a local shop where you are staying, and they can fill you in. You might want to check around www.ladiver.com or www.saintbrendan.com for more ideas. Enjoy!
