Can someone please tell me the water temperature forecast for April 2010 for the east coast of Borneo? Thank you.

I haven't been there in April but would guess that it is not colder than low to mid 80s Fahrenheit (26 to 28 Celsius).
Sipadan is 4 degrees north of the equator - temperatures don't change much year round over there. The only variation is more rain/less rain. April is a "dry" month.

Hi, we run a diving business on the west coast of Sabah (from Kota Kinabalu) - so similar water temp to east coast of Sabah.

We are currently coming out of the 'wet season' (even though it's very dry at the moment!) and the sea temperature is starting to warm up again as we move from the north east trade winds (and the colder currents this brings) to the south west trade winds. As of today the sea temp is now 27C on average with the odd thermocline (of ~25C) as you go deeper or go to more exposed dive sites.

As we enter April the water should warm back up to a typical 30C for the rest of the year. As Sipadan is more exposed than most of the dive sites we go to and prone to currents I'd expect the sea temp to be slightly cooler there.

Hope this helps. Enjoy the tropical waters!

Hi,

I spent a week at Sipadan end of Feb. and the water temp was around 28-29 Celsius. 3mm shorty was more than enough

Regards,
p.

Thanks. Guess I am going with a 3mm.

I was just out there last week and it was fairly warm. 3mm would be more than sufficient I reackon.

We are back. It was 82-84 degress. The 3mm worked out just fine. Never got cold.
