I'm a Fish!
Like Mr. Rogers used to say; “It’s a wonderful day in the neighborhood”.

1409 I just pulling into an insurance business on the corner of 14th St. and Sherman Ave. in CdA when city’s radio frequency cracks with a child missing in the water, possible drowning at Independence Point which is 14 blocks from me.

I light up, call into county that I’m on route to the drowning. The first 7 blocks are traffic and trouble free. The next 6 got rather tricky and to be bunt the last block was a bitch with heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

I get to the area at 1411 and bolt out of the rig at a flat run and totally forget about the creek in my path. No cape and no phone booth, I jump it and get to the child who has been removed from the water and the Lifeguards were working on him. He was conscious and thrashing around when all of a sudden here come the chunks and a good percentage of the lake water blowing out of him.

He’s fine so when the medics arrived I cleared and realized the old body isn’t 20 anymore. :idk: It’s amazing what an over dose of adrenalin can do for a 63 year old body.:shocked2:

I called the gal that keeps track of our bi-annual PT and I told her I just passed for October. She didn’t agree, bummer.

Boy am I freeking sore now…. But it was a kid! Which makes the pain go away. Thank god for some quick thing people who weren’t afraid to get involved. Everything happened so fast dispatch never got the Dive Team page out.

Nice to hear about a happy ending for a change.

:D

Yeah ... der's life in dem old bones yet.

Here is the paper artical:
Coeur d'Alene Press: Local News - Drowning boy rescued

And some of the other news:
http://www.khq.com/global/story.asp?s=12782815
http://www.kxly.com/news/24204893/detail.html
http://www.krem.com/news/local/Peop...owning-boy-at-Lake-Coeur-dAlene-98148204.html

They had TV coverage on these three stations but for some reason just put out a printed artical.

IMHO I think they released the child way to soon. He expelled a lot of water and had to take some back in. I think maybe an overnighter may have been better.

Thank God for people getting involved and CPR can work!

Hooyah...good on all of you for responding. I have a 4 year old grandson so this story really hits home...some folks in your area are so lucky to have that boy around today to play with...hope the parents don't trust those babysitters again.

excellent, gary!
