BTW ask the shops about diving during the Golliath Grouper congregation which is going on now!

I dive the JASA quite often and if you book ahead of time they will help you fill the boat for the days dive. Ask for Christina, she is a joy and a big help! We wanted to take some wanted to take some weekday dives and she made it happen. The crew is great and really helpful as well! You can also contact her and the shop on Facebook. Happy Diving!!

I would like to throw Hypnautical dive charters in the mix. Capt. John is great and will make sure you have a great time. He has a 6-pack catamaran. I personally don't like cattle boats so that's perfect for me. Give John a call and you won't be disappointed.

I agree with Muddy....... My buddy & I went out with Nypnautical a couple weeks ago. It was a great experience !! John will get a dive master for you ( request Woody) or you can go with your buddy. I live on Singer island & have been diving the area for years. I also have went with JDC which do run a great operation. I like being 2 minutes from the boat & prefer the shallower reefs of Palm Beach County which in my opinion is the best diving in the US !

I am heading down to Singer Island arriving Saturday Oct 8th and leaving Saturday Oct 15th. I would like to dive a few days while I am there. I have been reading numerous posts about the operators in WPB and Jupiter. Sounds like the best operators are Jupiter Dive Center in Jupiter and Jim Abernathy in WPB/Riviera. Will there be enough divers during the week in order for the charters to go out? I have been to SC in the fall and found that people tend to dive only on the weekends and the boats do not go out during the week. If this is the case, it looks like the only day of diving will be Sunday Oct. 9th. Any guidance is appreciated.

What are the conditions like in early October?

You should contact Ryan Canon at Reef Photo & Video in Ft. Lauderdale. He dives the whole west coast of Florida and the Keys. He really likes the wrecks just off shore for that time of year for the silver sides & groupers are in the wrecks. He also likes to dive at the bridges of the inter coastal waterways. He could reference the right dive shop for where you are staying.

While it is a little further south from Singer Island, Boynton Beach is where I head. I dive with Dolphin Sun. The boat is docked in Lantana and goes out of the Boynton beach inlet (cut or what ever they call it).
Reefs healthy, significant relief. or if you want to do the goliath congregation they head to the Castor a wreck that last time I was there had hundreds of goliath grouper on it.

The Narcosis in Riviera Beach is an excellent boat. Captain Van is the owner operator and he does a great job. The boat has hot water showers and hot water for cup of soup and hot chocolate ( provided for free ) These items help on a chilly day.

October diving is great in WPB. It's my backyard for diving (I live in NE, but family in WPB so I go there a lot) and I can tell you you won't be disappointed. Bring a full wetsuit, and just be wary of storms. BEST boat in the area is Narcosis. Capt. Van owns the boat, and runs every trip. Best of all, he has plenty of tanks at the boat (some others make you schlepp from their shop) and the boat has hot shower. He runs a safe operation too, unlike some others in the area (do your own research, I don't want to say bad things, but don't go just by ads.)

Go north for wrecks and sharks, south for the reefs, but just go. Call ahead and they'll tell you how many are booked.

Have fun. Will be down for Labor Day weekend myself.

It's been a while since i lived there but there used to be a dive club in WPB that non-members could go out with. It was a lot of fun, the club members were always very nice, and you will meet locals who know lots about diving in the area. I'm sure you can find them on the internet as they had a web site.

That would be the Scuba Club. Welcome to The Scuba Club, America's Only Country Club For Scuba Divers in West Palm Beach, FL

I put them out there for really new divers who might need some guidance. They put 2 to 4 staff in the water with the group. The DM's and guides wil closely monitor guests. Where as with most local ops the diver surfaces by himself, these guys make every effort to escort the guests to the surface. As soon as somebody signals 1000 or NDL, the guides will swim around checking gauges and take people who need to go up under a DSMB they shoot. The guides may re-drop depending on circumstances.
Of course if they know you, they'll let you go at your own speed. If they don't know you they'll ask for dive history and maybe log. They will offer (or encourage) you to check yourself out in one of the pools with one of their instructors (no charge). They have an 8ft deep pool and a 16 ft deep tank. Member or not, you may use both pools. The shop is on the water, very close to the Lake Worth/Palm Beach inlet. Boat is right there.

About the only difference between members and guests is the price of the trip and the fact that members have lockers. I'm not a member, but I must admit, sometimes I am enviouse. I pull up early and shlep my gear to the office to pay and sign in. Then shlep my gear to the boat. The members pull up and shlep their drybags to the lockers by the dock.....

FYI. The boat does not have a ladder, but rather a drop down platform below the water line. I like it. Pop up like Shamu at Sea World. Some people don't like it. You are welcome to shrug your gear off and the crew will lift it (and you if needed) onto the boat. If you do doff your gear, getting on the lowered platform is very easy.

They have showers
