Whale Shark off Sarasota

We heard reports going back to July 3rd that there was a whale shark hanging out at the Fin Barge. It was just spotted again by a friend of ours the other day and I must say I am jealous! Hopefully it hangs out until hubby and I get a chance to do some gulf diving. Wow! That would be an awesome treat. Im on the west coast. Just wondering, how far out and deep is the barge there?

Thanks for the post Jayde323... pretty rare, but about once or twice a year they've been showing up. But I keep missing them!

We've been seeing spotted eagle rays many times this past 2 months. Maybe there's a common attraction.

The Fin Barge is just a few miles south of the Gunsmoke, in 85' of water. That's barely SW of Passagrille and about 22 n. miles SW of my port, John's Pass.
