For many, Madagascar is a far-off, exotic destination reserved for bucket lists and daydreams, but perhaps it's time to make your dreams come true. Pristine waters, white sand beaches and whale shark sightings are part of everyday life in Nosy Be, and with tourism growing at a rate of 11% each year, now is the time to go.

I'd agree with go now - most of the dive shops and hotels **** down over cyclone seasone (dec - mar) so choice of operator and accomodation can be limited.

We got help from Nosy Sakatias owners who were at home in France but kindly managed to put the word out to their contacts still in Madagascar and our host at Anjiamarango to get good dives in with the whale tour guy using his mates dive shops boat after a very dangerous and shoddy experience with (ironically) the operator listed in Loney Planet down at Amboatalaka.
