What is the best way to tie bungee ends together?

Just tie a knot in it. The zip tie thing sounds real cool, but it won't last.

I personally push the bungee through the hole, and tie a simple overhand knot in it. Do that on both sides for each bungee strap (totaling 4 knots) and you have simple and redundant. Pretty hogarthian

So I ended up using two pieces of bungee (for redundancy) and used square knots. I tried melting the knots together with a lighter but only the outer cover melted.

I like stainless hog rings. You can get them at any marine store. Once set properly they will never slip. The only negative is that you need a special pliers to use them.

I'm with the "two loops and simple knots" school. I have had bungie pull through the mounts after many dives, and having two independent loops saved the gauge.

Two grape knots... (Double Overhand Stopper or Double Fisherman's) are the most secure.
