What is the best way to tie bungee ends together?

Zip ties... the little strap that holds your mouthpiece on to your second stage.
 
Just tie a knot in it. The zip tie thing sounds real cool, but it won't last.

I personally push the bungee through the hole, and tie a simple overhand knot in it. Do that on both sides for each bungee strap (totaling 4 knots) and you have simple and redundant. Pretty hogarthian :wink:
 
I like stainless hog rings. You can get them at any marine store. Once set properly they will never slip. The only negative is that you need a special pliers to use them.
 
I'm with the "two loops and simple knots" school. I have had bungie pull through the mounts after many dives, and having two independent loops saved the gauge.
 
Two grape knots... (Double Overhand Stopper or Double Fisherman's) are the most secure.
